Hey! Have you read any of my books?
That may seem like a silly question, but I am genuinely curious. I don’t mean to shame you or otherwise guilt you into checking out what I have written, but I do want to know how effective my marketing is.
Timely, given Rhean is currently available for preorder on Kindle:
The release is set to May 8th, and I wanted to learn how preorders work this time, so that date is pretty set in stone. Overall, the process was essentially the same as making it go live normally, but there were a few restrictions.
Notably, a few days prior to the date I set, I would no longer be able to make any edits—I would need to have a final version submitted.
Where’s the Paperback?
Out of fear of any last-minute changes I may or may not need to make, I decided not to include a physical preorder—at least not this first time while I’m still learning the ropes.
I currently have a proof copy ordered that should be here by tomorrow, but I already set the release date to May 8th. The problem then being that I would not be able to make any edits if I were to find a problem—at least that would be an issue if I had included the paperback in the preorder.
Rather than build up that mountain of stress, I thought I’d keep it simple. Experiment with the easier electronic copies this time. Not only does Amazon give you a more lax deadline, but I also don’t need to worry about discrepancies between what I submit and what appears on the page.
While in all likelihood this is nothing but a precaution and I don’t suspect there will be much, if anything, I need to change—it’s better to be safe than sorry.
I expect I will make my final approvals soon after the package arrives and then it will be a matter of hours until Rhean is live.
Imperfect Reflections
Even though the whole process should be smooth, I’m worried about what could go wrong.
There’s a difficult balance between accepting what will be published and endlessly attempting to further polish the book.
I know there will be typos and errors I missed.
Rhean will be more captivating than any minor disappointments waiting on the printed pages.
I need to remind myself that rather than a perfect product, my goal has always been to share a story I hope you all enjoy.
I don’t want to go into too many details. My emotions are swirling and braving those winds has taken most of my energy.
For now, I just need to make sure Rhean is good to go.
But you can be sure I’ll eventually share my thoughts on procedure and protagonist alike!
Reviews, Please!
In conclusion, if you enjoy my weekly words and keep up with where I am in my futile dream, please order a copy of Rhean.
And while we wait for the official release on the 8th, I would also like to ask you all to leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads for any of my other books you have read:
☕ Maneus - An homage to ancient epics, late night coffee, and chaotic conversations.
❄️ Besnowed - Love, memories, meals, and snow.
☄️ Revification - Are you listening to me?
Otherwise, I hope you have a nice week and I really hope it’s less stressful than mine.
Until next time.
Cheers,
JMB
