Hey! What is your ideal day?
I imagine wherever your passion may lay, it doesn’t include feeling like you’re trapped inside an imposing barrier of grey walls and endless busywork.
That is, however, the reality for many.
Whether the walls are metaphorical or the result of poor design matters little to how it affects our mind.
That struggle between ideal days and dull realities is the core of my new book, Lux Aeterna.
Prerecorded Live
As a way to stay on top of the entire production in a more Buildspace way, I am also looking to build and measure actual interest in me and my writing.
Now, the first step in that direction was to announce that I had a “toy” version of the book ready for people to “play” with.
As with my other projects, I put the full text up on Google Docs. If you click the link, then you’ll quickly notice how short the story really is.
I stayed true to the novella and anthology combination claim, keeping it at just over 20,000 words.
The harder part is what comes next though. I tend to spurn quantified data, but understand its use and wanted to have some as a way to measure interest in Lux Aeterna.
So, after a few people were done editing the draft with notes aplenty, I’ve put the book up on Amazon for preorders:
The official release is set to July 26th, which still gives me time to make changes. I also only have the Kindle version available at the moment, but I want to properly figure out paperback preorders as well.
Judgement Day
Sidereal Times has reached the end of the submission period and I’m now planning on taking a couple weeks to look over what everyone wrote with my team of judges.
Then, I will send out the winning pieces to everyone here.
Having said that, if you still have an idea you want to put into words, I’m sure I could find a way to give you a little executive leeway.
So, for understanding final judgements and a reminder to those who have something to share:
Write something expressing your feelings about a battle and send it to me.
More Work
I’m looking forward to talking more about the ideas and motivations behind Lux Aeterna, but for now I mostly want to remind people to get their preorders in.
The odds of me actually winning anything through Buildspace are slim, but having a way to raise those slim odds is always a good idea.
Besides, at worst I’m learning more of the best practices when it comes to releasing any book at all.
And if that keeps the lights on in the office a little while longer, all the better.
Until next time.
