Hey! How’s the holiday?
I hope the eggs weren’t hidden too well—wouldn’t want the rabbits to lose their way. These festivals, religious or otherwise, are always an adventure through semantic iconography and the passage of time.
Rather than expound on odd vocabulary choices, I’ll keep things short this week for the slightly more special day and the extra time it avows.
Half and More
For an update on Rhean, I’m a little over halfway through the edits. I could very well push myself to get done sooner, but whenever I feel that urge I’ve tried to silence it rather than give in.
While it certainly would be impressive to finish everything as quickly as possible, I want to avoid falling into a trap where I rush to get to the end.
If that means I need to wait for inspiration a little longer, then I’ll wait.
If that means I need to stop when I feel the words becoming weaker, then I’ll stop.
That’s not to say I think the story is perfect. On the contrary, I have a list of specific details I’m somewhat worried about. A few ideas I could see as too convoluted or difficult to digest.
However, there’s a balance between keeping that in mind and continuing to push forward. I believe it’s better to leave it alone for now and ask others how they feel once I’m ready to share.
I think experimenting with this slower style of creation also allows me to measure the scales better. Catching more of the text before it veers out-of-bounds and ever has a chance to distract and divide.
Hopefully, that’ll prove to be beneficial in some tangible way.
Comments and Reviews
One last reminder before returning to celebrations and holidays—I want to remind everyone to please leave a rating or review on Amazon or Goodreads.
After my dad’s enthusiasm for Revification, he left a very nice comment going into his feelings on the story!
I don’t want you to just pile on the praise though. Be truthful to yourself and I believe that will generate more conversations around my work. People can always tell when a review is nothing more than niceties with no emotion.
Other than that, I hope you enjoy any eggs you eat—chocolate or otherwise!
Until next time.
Cheers,
JMB
